What's an SMC?

SMC stands for "Secondary Metabolism Collaboratory". A "collaboratory" is an online place where people can come together to work and experiment to solve scientific problems. It's a good word for what we're intending to build - an online place to host the most comprehensive collection of identifiable secondary metabolism sequences, and to work collectively to annotate them and understand what they're producing, and share all of that with the scientific community and the general public! 

Right now, SMC is in its earliest development stage, and we want to gather interested users to participate in focus groups, software and user interface testing, API testing, or the occasional survey. With YOUR help, we can build an open, useful, fun tool to bring natural products scientists together and drive our field forward!
